Heritage Travels: Discovering Asia

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.

Banyan Tree Lang Co, Vietnam

Vietnam is a well-known country rich with history. Located on the Eastern Indochinese Peninsula, it’s mostly hilly and densely forested where mountains account for almost 40% of the country. With evidence of human settlement as early as the Palaeolithic age, it’s now the 15th most populous countries in the world so it’s little wonder why this country is a melting pot of ancient history, diverse cultures, and beautiful natural landscape. Vietnam is a place where modern society embraces the changes of times but fiercely guards its heritage and culture.

Banyan Tree Lang Co in Vietnam is dedicated to providing naturally-luxurious, ecological, and culturally-sensitive experience to its guests. Taking its name from the Banyan tree, a large and stately tree that often becomes a shelter for weary travellers, the resort offers the same peaceful comfort to those who stay there. With an all-villa concept, Banyan Tree Lang Co is a sanctuary for the senses where each villa has a private pool and total privacy, making it the perfect luxury hideout.

The beautiful architecture of this resort is a perfect marriage of modernism and heritage. Its villa designs are contemporary yet still uniquely Vietnam where they are adorned with delicate Asian furnishings and stunning Vietnamese paintings. We may be having a warm bubble bath in a sleek bathtub of the sea view villa or having a drink at the Thu Quan bar, but the nuances of heritage and culture is never amiss. If you’re seeking for a secret hideout to immerse yourself in culture and reawaken your senses, look no further than Banyan Tree Lang Co because this is one of those places we wish we didn’t have to leave.

Amanpuri, Phuket, Thailand

Ah, Thailand… The land of stunning beaches and exciting nightlife. There’s just something about it that we love because no matter how many times we’ve been here, there’s always something new and wonderful to discover. The country has wonderfully different geographical landscapes where mountain ranges conquer the northern part of the country, the Chao Phraya river runs down its central area, and the southern part opens up to the sea, dotted with some of the world’s most beautiful islands.

However, whenever we want to get away from the busy cities in Thailand, there’s always one place we will head and that place is Amanpuri Phuket.

While there are several other Aman Resorts around the world, Amanpuri Phuket has got to be one of our favourites. The private villas are an homage to the traditional Thai house where you can see the famous multi-layered ribbed roofs stand out stately against the blue sky and the rest of the space is tastefully punctuated with pieces of Thai craft such in its latticework, sculptures, leewadee, and arrangement of oriental flowers.

Losing yourself in the extraordinary heritage architecture of Amanpuri and its captivating landscape is easy; letting go of the place is not. This is another place we wish we didn’t have to leave because when you’re here, you really are spoiled rotten and combined with the beautiful scenery and serenity of the resort, Amanpuri makes you feel like there’s nowhere else you want to be.
